John Isner to make French Open debut tomorrow

Hard serving American John Isner will make his French Open debut tomorrow as he takes on the veteran Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela. This sunday match is the the 4th match scheduled on court #6. Matches start at 11 am Paris time which is 5 am eastern standard time in the United States. Depending on how long the 3 matches scheduled before Isner’s last, you should expect the big guy to get on the court sometime around 4 or 5 pm Paris time which would be 10 or 11 am east coast time. Isner is coming into Paris very confident after a strong performance last week at the Hypo Group Tennis International in Austria. In Austria it took Isner just 52 minutes to win his first round match against Simone Vagnozzi of Italy 6-3,6-2. In the 2nd round Isner tested the World’s #4 and eventual tournament champion Nikolay Davydenko in a very tight match in which Isner lost the 2 hour contest in 3 sets. “I am very pleased with how my clay court game is progressing, this was only the 2nd tournament I have ever played on red clay. I am now alot more confident on this surface and I am looking forward to my first round match up at Roland Garros in which I will face the very talented Juan Ignacio Chela. My coach Brandon Wagner and me are very confident going into my match tomorrow against Chela, I will have to play very well to win as we all know how good Chela is. I think I can get the job done.” said Isner. Check your local TV listings as ESPN2 and the Tennis Channel will have live coverage of the French Open starting tomorrow.
